From Times Wire Reports

Former Gov. Neil Goldschmidt has admitted to having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl in the 1970s, when he was mayor of Portland. Goldschmidt, 63, stepped down from the state Board of Higher Education and a private sector job and issued a public apology.

It was a shocking end to the career of a man known as a political rainmaker in Oregon, a top executive at Nike and transportation secretary under President Carter.

Goldschmidt, governor from 1987 to 1991, said he has lived with “enormous guilt and shame.”
