Ties Between Jeweler’s Killing and Mob Probed

The shooting of a jeweler on a busy New York sidewalk may have been a hit by the Russian mob, law enforcement officials said.
A gunman dressed in black shot Eduard Nektalov once in the back of the head and twice in the back before disappearing into a crowd in midtown Manhattan’s diamond district nearby.
The law enforcement officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said investigators were focusing on possible financial dealings Nektalov might have had with Russian organized crime figures.
