Kenny Rogers won his third consecutive start, tying for the major league lead with his seventh victory, and the Texas Rangers beat the Chicago White Sox, 7-4, Tuesday night at Chicago.

Rogers (7-2) gave up two runs and seven hits in six innings, struck out six and walked one. Rogers, 39, off to his best start since 1995, joined Houston’s Roger Clemens, Cincinnati’s Paul Wilson and the Angels’ Jarrod Washburn as the only seven-game winners in the major leagues.

Francisco Cordero got four outs for his 15th save in as many chances.

Mark Teixeira and Herbert Perry hit solo homers for the Rangers, who have won four of their last five games. Teixeira drove in three runs.

Chicago’s Frank Thomas hit his 427th career homer, moving past Billy Williams into sole possession of 32nd place on the career list.

Kansas City 4, Detroit 3 -- Second base umpire C.B. Bucknor called interference on a sliding Carlos Guillen in the ninth inning, nullifying the tying run for the Tigers at Kansas City, Mo., and the Royals ended a losing streak at four games.

Alex Sanchez would have scored the tying run if not for Bucknor’s call on Guillen, who appeared to slide cleanly across the bag after Ivan Rodriguez beat out a potential double-play grounder.

Seattle 5, Cleveland 4 -- Raul Ibanez hit a run-scoring single with two outs in the 12th inning at Cleveland to lead the Mariners over the Indians, who have lost a season-high six in a row.

Mike Myers (2-1) pitched a perfect 11th and Eddie Guardado worked the 12th for his seventh save in nine tries.

Tampa Bay 6, Minnesota 1 -- Julio Lugo homered and drove in four runs to back Victor Zambrano at St. Petersburg, Fla., and the Devil Rays stretched their winning streak to five for the first time since 2000.
