Former Treasury Secretary Paul H. O’Neill, fired by President Bush in December 2003, declined to say Monday whether he was backing Bush’s reelection bid.

“How do you decide to vote for two people when you can think of so many things that are negatives of both people,” O’Neill said of Bush and Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John F. Kerry in an interview with CNBC.

Bush ousted O’Neill after the secretary refused to support more tax cuts. In January, O’Neill said he would probably support Bush, but on Monday he identified former President Ford as his dream candidate.
