Dutch police arrested an eighth suspect in the slaying of a filmmaker, and authorities said the man was part of a group that had threatened to kill Dutch politicians in the name of Islam.

The 23-year-old, who was not publicly named, was detained Friday. It was not clear whether he was a Dutch citizen. The statement said he was “of Moroccan origin.” The government has announced plans to revoke the citizenship of dual citizens suspected of terrorism.

Filmmaker Theo Van Gogh was slain Tuesday in Amsterdam. A letter pinned to his body threatened death to lawmaker Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who worked with Van Gogh on a movie criticizing the treatment of women in Muslim communities.
