Pilot Killed in Vietnam Is Buried at Arlington

An Air Force officer who was shot down and killed in the Vietnam War has been buried more than 38 years after his death.
Lt. Col. Harding E. Smith was aboard an AC-47 gunship that was shot down over Laos in 1966. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
Bone fragments and personal belongings of the gunship’s six crewmen were recovered in 1995, but Smith’s fragments were positively identified only recently.
