Namibian voters, many braving torrential rain, headed to the polls to select a Parliament and a successor to founding President Sam Nujoma, who plans to step down in March after 15 years in charge.

Hifikepunye Pohamba, Nujoma’s preferred successor and the candidate of his ruling South-West African People’s Organization, is expected to win. SWAPO is also expected to keep control of Parliament.

Six other presidential candidates and nine parties are participating in the two-day elections.
