USC’s Curtis Sits Out

USC senior forward Nick Curtis sat out practice Thursday because of a sprained right ankle.
Trojan Coach Henry Bibby said Curtis, who had 12 points and seven rebounds in 19 minutes of USC’s 94-56 defeat of The Master’s College in the Trojans’ final exhibition game last week, was questionable to play in their regular-season opener Monday against UC Irvine at the Sports Arena.

Saint Joseph’s guard Pat Carroll probably won’t play in the season opener at top-ranked Kansas on Tuesday because of his dislocated shoulder. Carroll, the top returning player from a team that reached the NCAA regional finals a year ago, injured his non-shooting shoulder at the beginning of November. He averaged 10.1 points and led the Atlantic 10 Conference in three-point shooting percentage (.458).
