Houston Lifts Tennessee to Atlanta

Cedric Houston had touchdown runs of six, 11 and five yards and Gerald Riggs Jr. added 149 rushing yards as No. 15 Tennessee defeated Vanderbilt, 38-33, Saturday at Nashville, giving the Volunteers the Southeastern Conference’s Eastern Division title.

Tennessee, 8-2 and 6-1 in the SEC, plays Kentucky next Saturday and then meets No. 2 Auburn on Dec. 4 in the SEC championship game in Atlanta.

Vanderbilt finished 2-9 and 1-7.

No. 14 Louisiana State 27, Mississippi 24 -- Alley Broussard ran for a school-record 250 yards and three touchdowns at Baton Rouge, La., and the Tigers (8-2, 5-2) rallied to defeat the Rebels (3-7, 2-5).

Broussard broke the record of 246 yards that Kevin Faulk set against Houston Sept. 7, 1996.

Arkansas 24, Mississippi State 21 -- Matt Jones passed for 215 yards and Pierre Brown returned a blocked field goal 76 yards for a touchdown at Starkville, Miss., as the Razorbacks (5-5, 3-4) defeated the Bulldogs (3-7, 2-5) for the sixth time in a row.

Arkansas must defeat Louisiana State Friday in Little Rock, Ark. -- where they are 17-0 under Coach Houston Nutt -- to qualify for a school-record seventh consecutive bowl.
