Shiite Muslims Riot in Wake of Mosque Blast
From Times Wire Reports
Thousands of minority Shiite Muslims rampaged through the eastern Pakistani city of Sialkot, burning a police station and the mayor’s office after a funeral for 31 people killed Friday in a suicide bombing at a mosque.
Hundreds of army troops and police commandos struggled to contain the violence as youths shouted slogans against President Pervez Musharraf, the U.S. and the attack’s perpetrators.
The government offered a reward of about $170,000 for information on the attacker. No one has claimed responsibility.
