They put a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday for ABC announcer Al Michaels, which brought back some memories from his youth at Hamilton High.

“I used to cruise Hollywood Boulevard,” he said. “So I’ve gone from almost getting arrested to, in a manner of speaking, getting laid to rest.”

Cruising clarification: The Michaels family, which includes wife Linda, son Steve, daughter Jennifer Cohn, and mother Lila, was on hand for Wednesday’s Walk of Fame ceremony.

Michaels made it clear that Linda, whom he has known since their days together at Hamilton, didn’t cruise Hollywood Boulevard with him.

“She was back home reading spiritual material,” he said.

Trivia time: The late Jim Healy got his star on the Walk of Fame on Nov. 7, 1991. What major sports news event occurred on the same day?

Simply downsizing: When L.A. King Hall of Famer Marcel Dionne put up 129 memorabilia items from his career for bid at www.classicauctions.net, he knew there would be questions.

“The first thing people think is you have no money,” Dionne told The Times’ Helene Elliott. “That does happen, but in my case, we’ve just accumulated so much stuff.... It was basically in storage.”

Dionne, 53 and a grandfather of two who has homes in Niagara Falls, Canada, and upstate New York, added, “You think you’re going to leave it to your kids and grandkids, but that’s not how it works. We just decided if this stuff means that much more to somebody else

Bad day for Bearcats: Cincinnati quarterback Gino Guidugli hated his team’s 48-29 loss to Army on Saturday. “This is the most disappointing loss of my life. We’re probably the laughingstock of the nation.”

The real thing: When Odessa Permian, the school featured in the movie “Friday Night Lights,” plays rival Midland Lee tonight in Midland, Texas, FSN Southwest’s coverage of it will be shown throughout the nation on FSN’s 20 regional networks. It will be on FSN West 2 at 5:30 p.m.

Good question: When Dodger owner Frank McCourt was a guest on FSN’s “Best Damn Sports Show Period” last week, Tom Arnold said, “Fox, where we work here, used to own the Dodgers. They ran it into the ground. You come in here, and now the Dodgers are No. 1 in one year. When are you going to buy our show?”

Looking back: On this day in 1945, the Chicago Cardinals ended the longest losing streak in NFL history at 29 games with a 16-7 victory over the Chicago Bears. The Miami Dolphins, who have lost five in a row, still have a way to go to get the record.

Trivia answer: Magic Johnson announced that he was HIV-positive and was retiring from the Lakers.

And finally: “No doubt Phil Jackson will sell a lot of books,” said Channel 9’s Alan Massengale, “but it seems to me Coach Phil could have used a few sessions with Dr. Phil.”
