Africans Agree on More Peacekeepers for Darfur

SUDAN
The African Union agreed to boost the number of peacekeepers in Sudan’s Darfur region and send a contingent of civilian police to monitor efforts to end violence that has killed about 70,000 people and driven more than 1.5 million from their homes, organization officials said.
The extra forces, scheduled to arrive next month, will bring the total strength to 3,320, up from 390, they said.
