China Satellite Chamber Crashes Through House
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The retrievable chamber of China’s 20th recoverable satellite returned to Earth with a bang, crashing through the roof of a house, the Beijing News said Sunday.
“The capsule returned back to Earth safely [Oct. 15], but unfortunately it hit a four-storey civilian house,” the newspaper said. It showed a photograph of a house in Penglai in southwestern Sichuan province that looked as if it had been all but destroyed, with rafters and bricks scattered around. No one was injured.
