Activision Posts Profit on Strong Game Sales

Activision Inc., maker of the “Spider-Man” video games, said it had second-quarter net income of $25.5 million, boosted by the DVD release of the “Spider-Man 2” movie.

Profit totaled 17 cents a share, contrasted with a net loss of $10.1 million, or 8 cents, a year earlier, the Santa Monica-based company said. Sales more than doubled to $310.6 million from $117.5 million a year earlier.

Shares of Activision rose 39 cents to $13.58 in extended trading after results were announced. They rose 9 cents to $13.19 on Nasdaq.
