Europe Clears Oracle to Pursue PeopleSoft

European antitrust regulators cleared Oracle Corp. to pursue its hostile $7.7-billion bid to buy PeopleSoft Inc.
The decision removes the last antitrust hurdle that threatened to block Oracle from taking over PeopleSoft.
The news helped push PeopleSoft’s shares up 33 cents to $20.09 on Nasdaq, where Oracle’s shares gained 14 cents to $12.27.
