Presbyterians Decry Hezbollah Meeting
The letter writer who denounced a Presbyterian cleric’s support for Hezbollah (Oct. 23) should know, and in all fairness The Times should report as a follow-up to its story (Oct. 19), that the three top officials of the Presbyterian Church (USA) have also called the decision of the Presbyterian delegation to meet with Hezbollah “misguided, at best” and called its statements “reprehensible.” They said that “we in no way condone the terrorism of groups such as Hezbollah.... Terrorism in all of its forms is morally abhorrent.” They stated that the denomination sides “both with Palestinian victims of the occupation and with Israeli and Jewish victims of violence and terrorism.”
