From Times Wire Reports

The Bush administration has approved the sale of military equipment to Yemen. Nearly all sales had been banned after the Persian Gulf nation supported Iraq’s 1990 invasion of Kuwait.

Delivery of spare parts for C-130 cargo planes was approved last week; sales of parts for F-5 fighter jets had been previously approved, said Tom Casey, a State Department spokesman.

Yemen had been a haven for Islamic extremists but has cooperated with recent counter-terrorism efforts.
