Dusting off images

The desperate plight of 1930s-era migrant workers in California will be revisited at the Ventura County Museum of History & Art, highlighting the work of two renowned chroniclers of the period. “Insight and Compassion: Photographs by Dorothea Lange” includes 44 works from the collection of state Assemblyman Elmer E. Lore Sr., who used the photographs in his pursuit of legislation to relieve the plight of the dustbowl migrants. “A Journey Shared: Photographs by Horace Bristol,” includes 37 images Bristol captured while traveling through the migrant camps in the Central Valley with novelist John Steinbeck.
