Election slacking

I can’t thank David Shaw enough for his column “Campaign Coverage Needs to Read Between the Lines” (Sept. 5). At last, the truth about the appalling coverage of the election campaign is being exposed. I constantly find myself screaming at the TV over the bland, flaccid, inaccurate “reporting” that passes for election coverage. Does no one do any research anymore to obtain background information or to verify the credibility of stories/people being covered? This Swift Boat Veterans debacle is possibly the worst yet since factual information contradicting the group’s claims is readily available. Don’t the reporters or at least their assistants read these things?
