Irrigation District to Pay $820,000 in Settlement

The Imperial Irrigation District has agreed to pay an $820,000 fine to settle alleged violations of state hazardous waste control laws.
The settlement was reached last week in San Diego County Superior Court.
Roger Vintze, a state hazardous substance scientist, said the district had 36 violations, including improper storage of hazardous waste and unauthorized transportation of waste throughout Imperial County, in southeastern California.
