5 Rescued After 8 Days Adrift on a Life Raft
From Times Wire Reports
Five boaters were rescued off southwest England after eight days adrift in a life raft. When their 60-foot boat began to take on water, they said, they tried to attract attention with distress calls, flares and burning tires.
Even setting fire to the craft brought no rescue, so they boarded the raft. Water ran out Tuesday, but they drifted into cellphone range a day later. The coast guard sent a helicopter.
