New Delhi Shoppers Not Buying Late Hours

New Delhi’s stores stayed open as late as 11 p.m. after a decades-old law requiring a 7:30 p.m. closing was lifted.
But the Indian capital’s customers weren’t beating down the doors. Streets were largely deserted and shops mostly empty.
“This city is not safe for women. Who will go out at night and risk being mugged or raped?” said Suhasini Joglekar.
“This is not going to work,” clothes seller Sunil Kumar said.
