Kenneth Starr Comes to Pepperdine Law School

LETTERS TO THE TIMES

Re “Pepperdine Law School Adds Some Starr Power,” Sept. 13: The addition of Kenneth Starr to the Pepperdine University School of Law would seem to indicate that the people operating the school are not satisfied with having a budget in the black.

The skills he brings to Pepperdine are a rabid vindictiveness and an acute ability to milk his job for all it’s worth, as indicated by his handling of Whitewater. Seventy million dollars for minor guilty pleas and convictions was simply morbid in its excess and not the least bit cost-effective for the taxpayers whose money he squandered. The United States government, i.e., the taxpayers of this country, got nothing for the money he spent. I certainly hope the people operating Pepperdine watch him closely. They might ultimately find red ink on their balance sheet.
