Empowered role model? Puhleeeeze

So Jenna Jameson is the new “Pretty Woman” [“The XXX Files,” by Strawberry Saroyan, Sept. 11]? I weep for a society whose new role model for 13-year-old girls is a woman who perpetuates the myth that women are only valuable as disposable sexual objects.
While I am sure there are men tickled at the idea that their girlfriends, with a little help from Jenna, can learn “How to Make Love Like a Porn Star,” let us remember that the appeal of porn (which I happen to like) is all in fake fantasy encounters with fake women with fake physical attributes who fake orgasms ... and disappear when you click the off button on the remote.

I’m sick and tired of the constant glorification of hookers as women with “pride” and a heart of gold who do an “important” service to society (men). In the lurid, lazy and woman-hating world of porn, there is simply no real enlightenment for anybody in it. No matter how you slice it, it’s a demeaning, corrupt, nasty, chauvinist business.
If you must be a hooker because you don’t want to explore decent work, just hide and shut up about it. To have ditzes (like in the article) blabber about “empowerment” by trying to “Make Love Like a Porn Star” is depressing. How about trying to “think like an independent woman and act like a class act” -- in life and on the job?
