Proposal to Rename Park is Postponed
A proposal to rename Mile Square Regional Park in Fountain Valley after the late President Reagan was postponed Tuesday.
Some are critical because of the park’s name recognition and potential hardship for area businesses that have incorporated “Mile Square” into their names.
Supervisor Jim Silva said he made the proposal after meeting with the city’s mayor and manager, who said they were unopposed to such a change for the county’s portion of the park.
Silva now suggests the name Ronald Reagan Memorial Mile Square Regional Park, which he said may avoid confusion.
The item will be heard at the board’s Oct. 19 meeting.
