From Times Wire Reports

Former Gov. John G. Rowland, who resigned in disgrace and pleaded guilty to corruption, was due to report to a federal prison camp today to serve his one-year sentence.

A federal judge had recommended that Rowland be sentenced to a prison just outside Boston, a locale that would make it easy for his family to visit. But the U.S. Bureau of Prisons assigned him to Loretto, Pa.

Rowland, 47, a once-popular three-term Republican, admitted accepting gifts and vacations in exchange for political access.
