Washington Monument Reopens After Upgrades

The venerable Washington Monument, which serves as a sort of granite-and-marble exclamation point for the National Mall’s historic sites, reopened to the public after a security renovation that began in September.
All tickets for the day were claimed early, said U.S. National Park Service spokesman Bill Line.
The security improvements included vehicle barriers and new lighting.
