3 Police Union Officials Face Ethics Charges
The executive director of the city Ethics Commission announced Monday that she has charged three members of the police union with violating campaign laws by knowingly soliciting city employees or officials for donations in the 2001 elections.
According to LeeAnn Pelham’s complaint, Mitzi Grasso, Ted Hunt and Don Lint used the Los Angeles Police Protective League’s newsletter to advocate on behalf of City Council candidates Ken Hillman and Dennis Zine, as well as Lea Purwin D’Agostino, who was running for city attorney.
It is the first time anyone has been charged under that section of the municipal code.
