Ex-Detective Sentenced in Fake-Drug Scheme

A former Dallas narcotics detective was sentenced to five years in prison for his part in a scheme in which fake drugs consisting of crushed chalk were planted on innocent people, mostly Mexican immigrants. Dozens were arrested.
Mark De La Paz was convicted March 31 of lying to a judge to get a search warrant. He still faces 13 other state charges.
