Yes, Mann and company navigate the world of computer code with ease. But the thrill of discovery here is in “life hacks” for getting things done in classically simple ways.

Thus, “the Hipster PDA” -- a stack of 3-by-5 cards held together with a binder clip (for, yes, writing things down). And, for April, an amusingly handy list of “hacks” for smoothing the nonvirtual side of life that opens with “1. Pencils are a great way to write things down” and winds through “16. Consider using a desk.”
