From Times Wire Reports

Mexico’s former ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI, appeared to be edging out President Vicente Fox’s conservative National Action Party for the governorship of the southern Pacific coast state of Colima.

With about 90% of votes counted, PRI candidate Silverio Cavazos Ceballos had about 51.3%, to about 47.7% for National Action Party candidate Leoncio Moran Sanchez.

The previous governor, PRI member Gustavo Vazquez Montes, stood twice for election after his first victory was annulled, but then died in a February plane crash.
