‘Sith’ screenings to aid charities

The final installment of “Star Wars” opens in theaters May 19, but Lucasfilm and Twentieth Century Fox are planning special screenings in L.A. and nine other cities May 12 to benefit an assortment of charities. Tickets available to the public are priced at $500 and $1,000.

Proceeds from the Los Angeles showing of “Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith,” to be held at the Mann Village Theatre in Westwood, will benefit Artists for a New South Africa, a nonprofit organization whose latest project is helping South African children orphaned by AIDS. A different charity is designated in each city.
