Healthcare Funding for Troops Withheld

Re “GOP Rejects Added VA Hospital Funds,” April 13: I hope owners of the yellow “Support Our Troops” ribbons were aware of the GOP’s support of our troops. Out of an $80.6-billion emergency spending bill [for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan] Republicans voted down $2 billion for healthcare funding for veterans, denying that Veterans Affairs hospitals were overcrowded and underfunded.
Talk to any veterans and they will tell you of long lines and shortages of physical therapists and mental health professionals at VA hospitals.
While we read of the billions going to waste and unaccounted for, it is unconscionable to me that more than $2 billion isn’t going to veterans’ healthcare now. Everyone with a yellow ribbon show your outrage at this Congress.
