The Defense Department last week also identified the following American military personnel killed in Afghanistan and Iraq:

David Ayala, 24, of New York City; chief warrant officer, Army. Ayala was one of 15 military personnel killed April 6 in Ghazni, Afghanistan, when their CH-47 helicopter crashed. He was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment, 12th Aviation Brigade in Giebelstadt, Germany.

Barbaralien Banks, 41, of Harvey, La.; sergeant major, Army. Banks was one of 15 military personnel killed April 6 in Ghazni, Afghanistan, when their CH-47 helicopter crashed. She was assigned to Division Artillery, 25th Infantry Division (Light) at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

David S. Connolly, 37, of Boston; captain, Army Reserve. Connolly was one of 15 military personnel killed April 6 in Ghazni, Afghanistan, when their CH-47 helicopter crashed. He was assigned to the 1173rd Transportation Terminal Battalion in Brockton, Mass.

Kevin D. Davis, 41, of Lebanon, Ore.; staff sergeant, Army National Guard. Davis died April 8 in Balad, Iraq, of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee in Hawijah, Iraq. He was assigned to G Troop, 82nd Cavalry in Redmond, Ore.

Daniel J. Freeman, 20, of Cincinnati; specialist, Army. Freeman was one of 15 military personnel killed April 6 in Ghazni, Afghanistan, when their CH-47 helicopter crashed. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Infantry Regiment at Camp Ederle, Italy.

Stephen C. High, 45, of Spartanburg, S.C.; sergeant, Army National Guard. High was one of 15 military personnel killed April 6 in Ghazni, Afghanistan, when their CH-47 helicopter crashed. He was assigned to the 228th Signal Brigade in Spartanburg.

James S. Lee, 26, of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; sergeant, Marine Corps. Lee was one of 15 military personnel killed April 6 in Ghazni, Afghanistan, when their CH-47 helicopter crashed. He was assigned to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 142, Marine Aircraft Group 42, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing in Marietta, Ga. As part of Operation Enduring Freedom he was attached to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 773, Marine Aircraft Group 42, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing.

Michael B. Lindemuth, 27, of Petoskey, Mich.; corporal, Marine Corps. Lindemuth died Wednesday as a result of wounds received from enemy mortar fire at Camp Hit, Al Anbar province, Iraq. He was assigned to Inspector/Instructor Staff, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division in Akron, Ohio. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, Lindemuth was attached to Regimental Combat Team 2, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).

Manuel Lopez III, 20, of Cape Coral, Fla.; specialist, Army. Lopez died Tuesday in Baghdad, Iraq, when his Humvee was struck by a rocket-propelled grenade. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, Ga.

Edwin A. Matoscolon, 42, of Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico; master sergeant, Army. Matoscolon was one of 15 military personnel killed April 6 in Ghazni, Afghanistan, when their CH-47 helicopter crashed. He was assigned to Division Artillery, 25th Infantry Division (Light) at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

John W. Miller, 21, of West Burlington, Iowa; specialist, Army National Guard. Miller died Tuesday in Camp Ramadi, Iraq, of injuries received from enemy small-arms fire while on route clearance operations in Ar Ramadi, Iraq. He was assigned to the 224th Engineer Battalion in Burlington, Iowa.

Edward J. Murphy, 36, of South Carolina; major, Army. Murphy was one of 15 military personnel killed April 6 in Ghazni, Afghanistan, when their CH-47 helicopter crashed. He was assigned to the U.S. Army Southern European Task Force at Camp Ederle, Italy.

Clint J. Prather, 32, of Cheney, Wash.; chief warrant officer, Army. Prather was one of 15 military personnel killed April 6 in Ghazni, Afghanistan, when their CH-47 helicopter crashed. He was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment, 12th Aviation Brigade in Giebelstadt, Germany.

Charles R. Sanders Jr., 29, of Charleston, Mo.; staff sergeant, Army. Sanders was one of 15 military personnel killed April 6 in Ghazni, Afghanistan, when their CH-47 helicopter crashed. He was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment, 12th Aviation Brigade in Giebelstadt, Germany.

Chrystal G. Stout, 23, of Travelers Rest, S.C.; specialist, Army National Guard. Stout was one of 15 military personnel killed April 6 in Ghazni, Afghanistan, when their CH-47 helicopter crashed. She was assigned to the 228th Signal Brigade in Spartanburg, S.C.

Sascha Struble, 20, of Philadelphia, N.Y.; specialist, Army. Struble was one of 15 military personnel killed April 6 in Ghazni, Afghanistan, when their CH-47 helicopter crashed. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Infantry Regiment, Camp Ederle, Italy.

Pendelton L. Sykes II, 25, of Chesapeake, Va.; private first class, Army. Sykes was one of 15 military personnel killed April 6 in Ghazni, Afghanistan, when their CH-47 helicopter crashed. He was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment, 12th Aviation Brigade in Giebelstadt, Germany.

Romanes L. Woodard, 30, of Hertford, N.C.; staff sergeant, Army. Woodard was one of 15 military personnel killed April 6 in Ghazni, Afghanistan, when their CH-47 helicopter crashed. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Infantry Regiment at Camp Ederle, Italy.
