Enough coverage of braggarts

Share

So the story about Blaine Halvorson [“A Peculiar Kind of Perfection,” April 14] was satire, right? How else do you explain its ridiculousness? First, there’s the cheerful description of Halvorson’s spanking-new three-story concrete home, nestled among single-story structures. This same phenomenon is what’s largely ruining the charm and historical integrity of countless Los Angeles neighborhoods.

Then there’s Halvorson himself, bragging about how everybody he’s ever met is intimidated by him (uh, yeah, sure they are, Blaine), then bragging about dropping $70,000 in a shopping spree “without breaking a sweat,” as the article gleefully points out. Please, enough stories about deluded, self-important, nouveau-riche, status-obsessed narcissists. Unless, of course, the article was satire. If that was the case, I can’t wait for another installment next week.
