NCR Names Ex-Exec of Symbol as CEO

Computer-services company NCR Corp. named as its president and chief executive the man credited with the turnaround of Symbol Technologies Inc. amid an accounting scandal that led to the indictments of eight executives.

William Nuti’s appointment is effective Aug. 8. He replaces interim Chief Executive James Ringler, who will continue as chairman, Dayton, Ohio-based NCR said. Former NCR President and CEO Mark Hurd resigned in March to become CEO of Hewlett-Packard Co.

Shares of NCR fell $1.24 to $33.47, while Symbol shares tumbled $1.79 to $9.85.
