MTV going into Overdrive

A behind-the-scenes look at this summer’s Eminem-50 Cent “Anger Management” tour premieres at 5 p.m. today in a webcast on MTV Overdrive, part of MTV.com, six days ahead of its conventional telecast on the MTV cable channel. MTV officials describe the hybrid offering as a network television first.

“The ‘Anger Management’ tour special is a perfect example of how we’re catering to our audience’s demand for an exclusive new music experience they can customize, access and enjoy on more than one platform,” MTV President Christina Norman said in a statement Tuesday.

The special includes interviews with the headliners and footage from onstage during performances and from backstage. MTV Overdrive launched in April, offering MTV.com users a linear viewing experience and video-on-demand capabilities.
