Pair Killed in Alaska Plane Crash Identified
Authorities have identified a man and a woman from Long Beach who died when their small plane crashed in a mountainous area inside Denali National Park and Preserve in Alaska.
Roy Abel and Claire Purnell, both 65, were killed in the crash Friday about 15 miles southwest of the park headquarters, said park spokesperson Kris Fister.
The pair were flying a Beech Bonanza 35 from Fairbanks to Anchorage as one of nine aircraft in a guided flight tour with LetsFlyAlaska, based in Puyallup, Wash. The plane crashed on a ridge at about 5,300 feet.
