I completely disagree with Mona Gable on her opinion of ABC’s “Brat Camp” [“Free the ‘Brat’ Pack,” Aug. 7].

It doesn’t matter if [the teens featured] are minors and having their lives smeared on television -- it’s not a crime! Lots of minors have or have had their privacy invaded in front of millions of viewers. The fact is that it does make good television, and if nothing else, it may help kids in similar situations. These kids’ problems are archetypal. The cameras are merely capturing a program that was already in existence, and SageWalk, the “Brat Camp,” can run its program however it likes.

SageWalk teaches teens how to care and take responsibility for themselves. I’m all for kids of this generation being given some out-of-the-box training, since the juvenile justice system is working not at rehabilitation but at further criminalization.
