6 U.S. Troops Killed in Iraq

The U.S. military announced today that six more soldiers had died in Iraq, five of them victims of roadside bombs.

Three troops assigned to Task Force Liberty were killed and one wounded when a bomb struck their patrol Friday near Tuz Khurmatu, south of Kirkuk.

In the capital, one soldier with Task Force Baghdad died and another was wounded by a roadside bomb Saturday.

East of Rutbah, another roadside bomb killed one soldier with the 1st Corps Support Command and wounded three before dawn today.

On Friday, a soldier in Baghdad died of a gunshot wound. That incident was under investigation.

The names of all the soldiers were withheld pending notification of relatives.

More than 1,845 U.S. service members have died since the war began in March 2003.
