Mayor Remains Free on Bond Despite Arrest

Despite his arrest last week on suspicion of soliciting a prostitute, former Lynwood Mayor Paul Richards will be allowed to remain free on bond while he awaits trial on federal corruption charges, U.S. District Judge Gary Klausner ruled Tuesday.

Klausner rejected a prosecution motion to revoke Richard’s $100,000 bond, saying that Richards’ prostitution arrest, a misdemeanor, did not indicate he was a serious threat to the community or a flight risk, the standard grounds for jailing a defendant before trial.

His trial is set for Sept. 20.
