Council Rejects Rapper Family’s Settlement
From Times Staff Reports
The City Council on Wednesday rejected an $18-million offer from the family of the late rap star Notorious B.I.G. to settle its wrongful death lawsuit.
Notorious B.I.G., born Christopher Wallace, was slain March 9, 1997 after a music industry party in the Miracle Mile area.
The rapper’s family claims rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight paid police officers to execute the 24-year-old artist. The family’s suit ended in a mistrial last month when the judge accused the city attorney’s office of intentionally withholding documents.
