Soldiers Ordered Held in Tribal Leader’s Death

From Times Wire Reports

Eleven Colombian soldiers were ordered arrested in the killing of an Indian tribal leader who was dragged from his home and later found dead, officials said.

Victor Hugo Maestre, a leader of the Kankuamo tribe, was abducted in Atanquez, 420 miles north of Bogota, in October, the attorney general’s office said in a statement.

Soldiers had said they recovered his body after he died in a gunfight with rebels, but the attorney general investigated.
