Update -- The Lynx have dropped four of five, including Sunday’s 83-69 loss at Phoenix, and will miss the playoffs. The Sparks are trying to avoid joining them on the postseason sidelines but have struggled with the Lynx. Their task will be easier if Minnesota’s 6-foot-4, 224-pound center Vanessa Hayden is unable to play because of an injured right shoulder. WNBA officials requested and received a tape of Sunday’s game to determine if disciplinary action is warranted in the incident between Houston’s Tina Thompson and the Sparks’ Laura Macchi. The Sparks contend Thompson flagrantly fouled Macchi in the final seconds of the Sparks’ 55-50 win.
