Regarding “Smear Tactics” [Aug. 23], we could drastically reduce graffiti by imposing harsher punishments, but we don’t. So now graffiti offenders have no qualms about spreading it elsewhere. I’m glad I was able to visit Sequoia before it was subjected to the indignity of urban graffiti.

We all know what graffiti looks like. It is irresponsible to print a photograph acknowledging and advertising a specific individual’s handiwork.
