Bill Would Let PUC Regulate Gasoline

From a Times Staff Writer

State Sen. Joe Dunn (D-Santa Ana) reintroduced legislation to give the California Public Utilities Commission the power to regulate gasoline.

Dunn, who pushed for a similar constitutional amendment in 2003, said the bill would allow the PUC as a last resort to institute wholesale price caps like those being launched this week in Hawaii. The oil industry has fought price caps.
