Junta Adds 6 Months to Suu Kyi’s Detention

Myanmar’s government confirmed that it has extended for six months the house arrest of democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi, who has spent much of the last 16 years in detention.
Her detention without trial under an anti-subversion law was extended recently, but the announcement by Information Minister Brig. Gen. Kyaw Hsan was the first confirmation of the move.
