Correct Cuba policy

Re “No to Castro, yes to Cuba,” Opinion, Dec. 2

Guillermo Vidal’s commentary is the most intelligent, reasoned expression of the subject I have read in the 49 years since Castro took power. It is possible that had we befriended Castro when he asked for our help, all those years ago, he might not have turned to the Soviet Union, and we could have tempered his regime.

At this point, when we deal with the Chinese and actually depend on it, a communist country, to support our debt, our attitude toward Cuba doesn’t make any sense. Vidal should contact our administration, especially our secretary of State, for some real action.
