Fire Breaks Out at Adirondacks Hotel
From Times Wire Reports
Flames engulfed the main building of the historic Lake Placid Lodge, one of the Adirondacks’ most exclusive retreats, as firefighters from about a dozen companies battled the blaze in freezing temperatures.
No injuries were reported, but there was extensive damage to the resort’s main building, which houses the kitchen, bar and dining area, fire officials said. The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
The secluded resort dates to 1882, when it was a private residence.
