Workers’ struggle

Re “Stifling in Jade Dust,” Column One, Dec. 14

This story is a vivid case study in the struggle of workers for a decent life throughout the world and of the ineptitude of governments in regulating unscrupulous corporations. Feng Xingzhong shows great courage in taking on the dragons of power and money to make these companies accountable for their indifference to workers’ safety and well-being. We in the West must be aware of these practices and recognize that, as workers, we stand in solidarity with Feng but, as consumers, we are failing him.
